London’s Heathrow Airport is considered one of the busiest airports in the world. There was a sudden chaos here on Monday evening when Terminal 4 was evacuated for about three hours after a “potentially dangerous substance incident”. Thousands of passengers were affected during this time, and many flights were delayed.

The incident started around 5 pm, when many passengers complained of feeling unwell. Soon, the crowd came out of the terminal, and passengers were forced to wait under the open sky in the cold evening. Amid the chaos, airport staff distributed foil blankets to keep the passengers warm. Police informed that about 20 people complained of injury or illness, but fortunately, no one was in critical condition. After the investigation, officials said that no evidence of any harmful substance was found.
Airport’s clarification and apology
At around 8:30 pm, Heathrow Airport announced that Terminal 4 was safe again and all flights would depart soon. The airport management apologised to the passengers and said that the safety and care of colleagues are their first priority. They advised passengers to get information about their flights directly from the airline.
